About six million people in low-lying, coastal areas of Myanmar and Bangladesh are in Cyclone Mocha's path. Thousands of homes have been destroyed, including shelters in Cox Bazar, considered the world's largest refugee camp, where families live in flimsy tents and makeshift structures. Thousands of people were evacuated to schools, monasteries, and other shelters, and within hours of landfall, the storm caused deaths, destroyed homes, and cut off power. We have created this fund to provide emergency supplies, food, water, and shelter to those affected by the cyclone. Memorial Day, observed federally on the last Monday in May each year, recognizes and honors those who have lost their lives serving in the United States military. Memorial Day is a day to extend our deepest gratitude towards those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in order to serve and protect their country. The following organizations are honoring those we have lost by paying tribute to fallen soldiers while also serving our veteran community and their families in a multitude of ways. Your donation to this Fund will help each of these organizations continue their collective missions of recognizing and honoring the sacrifices made by our nation's fallen military personnel, as well as the courage and bravery held by all military members, while supporting veteran communities around the country.

StepUp Wilmington was founded as Phoenix Employment Ministry in 2003 by the Rev. Don Skinner, who created a one of a kind job program in Wilmington, NC. During our initial decade of work, we hosted monthly “Orientations” to train and partner with 10 job seekers a month. In 2013, we began partnering with one of the leading job placement organizations in NC, StepUp Ministry in Raleigh. Through this collaboration came stronger programming, an emphasis on data tracking, increased capacity and a clearer vision of what could be achieved in Wilmington. In 2015, Phoenix Employment Ministry integrated the operations of Hometown Hires, a program of the United Way founded by Ben David and Chip Mahan, becoming Phoenix Hometown Hires. For the first time in the organization’s history 100 jobs were placed in a single year, 104 to be exact. Over the next year we placed 171 jobs, setting the bar even higher. In January 2018 Phoenix Hometown Hires changed its name to StepUp Wilmington to reflect its commitment to collaboration with StepUp NC, and set a four year goal to place 1,000 new jobs by 2022. Today, StepUp Wilmington continues the mission of its founders, though on a much greater scale and with better tools, providing employment opportunities, training and hope to men and women throughout the Cape Fear region.

On Monday the 6th of February, two devastating 7.8 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes struck in Turkey and Syria. As of 1 March 2023, more than 50,000 deaths have been confirmed. Three months since the devastating earthquakes and numerous aftershocks hit south-east Turkey and Syria, millions of children are still in need of urgent humanitarian support. The earthquakes have pushed many families to the brink and left children without access to essential services including safe water, education and medical care. Millions of people are still internally displaced after being forced from their damaged or destroyed homes and continue to live in temporary shelters. The earthquakes also caused widespread damage to schools and other essential infrastructure, further jeopardizing the well-being of children and families. UNICEF needs your support to help save lives. All donations to this fund will help UNICEF send life-saving supplies to children and their families in Turkey & Syria. The EMEA Talent Acquisition team want to contribute towards the relief efforts in the area, so we are putting our baking skills to good use and having a bake sale in Staines office.

The Pilot Light Food Education Standards have been developed, in collaboration with community and education stakeholders, to further the important mission of deploying and defining food education to schools throughout Chicago and beyond. In alignment with the Standards, Pilot Light has developed a cohesive model for classroom food education, integrating food into traditional subjects like math, reading, history, and science. Pilot Light’s community of teachers builds on students’ knowledge and experiences of and with food through the lessons teachers are already teaching. Simultaneously, students are also learning about food and how it connects us to ourselves, our communities, and our world, while advocating for an equitable future.

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a time to recognize and celebrate Asian and Pacific Islander communities in the United States. May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the U.S. on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869 which had been primarily constructed by Chinese immigrants. In addition to Bright Funds' list of highly-rated Asian American nonprofits focused on civil rights, housing rights, legal representation, education, and cultural preservation and expression, we also added Boston-based nonprofits and organizations suggested by fellow BCAMers to the list.

For many children around the world, summer vacations are something very desirable, but there are orphan kids in Uganda, which are only dreaming about vacations.Together we can make this come true. By donating to this project you are donating a visit to a safari, scout camp and team building activities for 20 orphans in Uganda. This will improve their life skills, will build confidence and add value and experience to their lives.

The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people. One accepting adult decreases the risk of suicide by 40% for LGBTQ young people. The Trevor Project provides LGBTQ youth with 24/7 crisis counseling via phone, text, and chat. At least 400 people have died after floods and landslides hit the Democratic Republic of Congo’s South Kivu province last week. Heavy rainfall last week caused rivers to overflow and created mudslides that devastated the villages of Bushushu and Nyamukubi in South Kivu’s Kalehe territory. We have created this fund to help the people of South Kivu affected by devastating floods. This helps increase the children’s self-esteem and confidence, allowing them to face the challenges of their medical condition with hope and dignity, improving the quality of life of their families, and empowering them to return to the mainstream without fear or apprehension. Most importantly, we help them return to school in the right grade after their time in the hospital. Our mission is driven by the need for non-medical support and schooling in hospital environments. It is specially designed for children aged between 4 and 16 with cancer or certain non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and life-limiting conditions. At Samiksha, we wish to make the life of the children and their caregivers a fulfilling experience. Our team consists of creative professionals, local teachers, skilled volunteers and a strong committed core team with leadership and focus. This project aims at providing financial help to patients in India, suffering from Cancer, Impact Guru identifies these patients who need financial support for their Hospital Expenses, and supports them through crowdfunding and raising grants. Cancer is a disease in which some of the body’s cells grow uncontrollably and spread to other parts of the body. Cancer can start almost anywhere in the human body, which is made up of trillions of cells. Normally, human cells grow and multiply (through a process called cell division) to form new cells as the body needs them. When cells grow old or become damaged, they die, and new cells take their place. Sometimes this orderly process breaks down, and abnormal or damaged cells grow and multiply when they shouldn’t. The estimated number of incident cases of cancer in India for the year 2022 was found to be 14,61,427 (crude rate:100.4 per 100,000). In India, one in nine people is likely to develop cancer in his/her lifetime. Lung and breast cancers were the leading sites of cancer in males and females, respectively. Among the childhood (0-14 yr) cancers, lymphoid leukemia (boys: 29.2% and girls: 24.2%) was the leading site. The incidence of cancer cases is estimated to increase by 12.8 percent in 2025 as compared to 2020. Globally, cancer is the leading cause of death, accounting for 10 million, or one in six, deaths in 2020, according to WHO. In India, too, cancer is the leading cause of death, with 7.84 lakh deaths recorded in 2018, and 13.92 lakh cases reported in 2020. As the cost break-up shows, cancer is an expensive illness to manage. Besides, screening for early detection, diagnostics, and treatment, it involves posttreatment care and rehabilitation. Delphix is raising money for the UNICEF effort in Turkey and Syria. Money raised will go directly to support the 850,000 children effected by the recent Earthquake Our combined team will take on the collective virtual journey by walking, running, riding and swimming the 1552 miles from Instanbul to London. The challenge will take place over 5 days. Starting on the June 9th and culminating on June 15th as the team arrives at the Data Company Summit event in London.
