Everyday we are seeing and hearing stories of desperate people fleeing Ukraine. I will be running the Bracknell Half Marathon on 15th May. Monies raised will be matched by my employer, Cisco, and go to relief charities supprting those who have lost everything in this unnecessary war.

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women. It is also a focal point in the women's rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women. It offers an opportunity to reflect on progress made, to call for change, and to honor acts of courage and determination by women who have helped in moving the needle toward gender parity within their countries and communities. I'm excited to share that I've joined the American Heart Association’s 2022 Woman of Impact campaign. I will be fundraising over the next few weeks starting today, to support the mission of the Go Red Campaign in building healthier lives free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Join ICON this year with an engaging fun run (5K) and live concert as we raise money for ICRC and their international efforts in their humanitarian efforts. All entrants for this 5K are asked to donate $5 and will be entered to participate in a raffle prize after completing the 5K.

We are all touched by the images coming from Ukraine; there are no comments for what is happening and the sadness is profound for the situation that thousands of families and children are experiencing, people who, like us, until recently took a job, a house, a school, water and food for granted. Cisco has selected a number of organisations to receive donations in order to help manage the emergency of families who are fleeing the war; among these I have chosen to support the Save The Children which is committed to supporting families in Ukraine and neighbouring countries for basic necessities, health, hygiene and protection. All of the harvest will be doubled by Cisco. I know that many of us, even for a small contribution, would like to support. Back in 2021, Nikola was diagnosed with Craniopharyngioma, 5cm tumor in his brain. As a result, his brain was full of water; he was suffering hormonal disbalance, long-term dehydration and other negative consequences, because of the effects caused by the tumor. Radiotherapy was performed, 30 sessions of it within June 2021. After the end of the Radiotherapy, another MRI was done, which showed that the 3.5cm tumor had stopped growing. However, another inflamed zone with the size of 9mm in December 2021 had emerged. Nikola has an offer from Acibadem hospital in Istanbul, Turkey to operate urgently the 9mm tumor. Unfortunately, the amount of 39 100.00 Euro needed for the surgery is unaffordable for his family.

People and families are considered poor when they lack the economic resources necessary to experience a minimal living standard. Official U.S. Census Bureau statistics estimate that 37 million persons, 11.4 percent of the total population, were poor in the United States in 2020. Despite the blessing of prosperity in America for almost 250 years there are still Americans in need in so many places and for so many basic things. These lorries can no longer travel to Ukraine but are now destined for Moldova where many Ukrainian mothers and children are seeking refuge. 1 in 8 children in Moldova are now Ukrainian refugees. The money Felsted School raised at the Harvest festival is helping towards the cost of sending the lorries but if anyone would like to donate towards these costs, we would aim to raise £3,500 to cover the cost of sending each lorry.
