CORONA virus / COVID-19 - We take precautions The current, really frightening, corona/COVID-19 pandemic affects many areas of the work of ProDogRomania and we have to face these challenges and look for solutions so that we can care solidly for our dogs in our shelters in Romania. Our Challenge We have to maintain the care of our dogs in the four shelters in Romania that we look after. It is very probable that Romanians will leave more dogs in the shelters during this difficult time, but at the same time they will not be able to travel to Germany because of the restrictions at border crossings. Our Solution Establishing reserves of food, vaccines, deworming and other necessary medication, so that in case of delivery difficulties in Romania, the care of the dogs is guaranteed. Construction of additional kennels, so that the increasing number of dogs can be accommodated reasonably. Long-Term Impact Our commitment, especially in these difficult times, will help all dogs on site and later also increase the acceptance of our local animal welfare activists and their educational work to have owner dogs neutered. Help our 4-legged friends during Covid-19 shelter in place. While we are all sheltering in place and keeping the world safe, we see many businesses affected by Covid-19; however, we may not think about some of those affected in the downstream of those shuttered businesses. Please help our 4-legged friends who are also forced to shelter in place. 100% of your donation goes to the care and feeding of these wonderful dogs!! With delays and suspensions of travel for transporting greyhounds to adoption groups across the country, the greyhound farms are bearing the brunt of the costs for caring for these wonderful animals until travel restrictions are lifted. Greyhound Pets of America Greater Northwest is not only trying to support any dogs arriving to our area for adoption, but also supporting the dogs who are delayed in being moved by sending monetary help to the farms themselves. When their racing careers are behind them, adoption groups like Greyhound Pets of America Greater Northwest spring into action and are responsible for finding forever homes for these wonderful animals. Greyhounds are often called 45mph couch potatoes for a reason. They love to run...but they also love to rest...on a couch, a lap, at your feet!! These groups raise funds through donations that are used to pay to have the dogs transported and ready to adopt to their forever homes; this includes vet visits for teeth cleaning and shots, neutering or spaying and any other medical needs when the dogs arrive to the group. The groups' volunteers spend countless hours raising funds, finding suitable homes and fostering greyhounds while homes are found.

We all read about the Australia fires that have been so damaging. Estimates are saying that a billion animals have perished, some species may be extinct even. A lot of rescue organizations are working with people and animals to give them the best care. They need all the help that we can muster. Some of the pictures of animals suffering due to the fires have left me speechless and quite numb. Any contribution is significant, please help. Thanks in advance.

PLEASE SUPPORT AND HELP OUR DOGs Facing the winter in (all) our shelters supporting ProDogRomania e.V. Every winter is the hardest time for our dogs to survive in the four shelters we take care of. It poses special challenges for our animal rights activists and for us to stand this time of the year. The dogs have to be supported by temperatures as low as 25 degrees Celsius and a lot of snow so that they survive this difficult time well. Water in the troughs freezes, the youngest are fed warm meals of oatmeal and chicken stock if possible, so that they sometimes have something warm in their stomach. Straw is regularly brought into the dog houses so that the dogs can lie down warm in these huts. Now before the beginning of winter the dogs must be fed with high-quality food, so that they can form also appropriate winter fur. Additional food supplements such as salmon oil are also very important. In addition, we try to equip all kennels in all shelters throughout the year with enough huts and roofs to provide some protection. But there is still a lot missing! It is our aim to roof all kennels and to provide all dogs with a hut and good food. In order to feed all dogs regularly and to replace frozen water we also need enough workers for this very hard work, especially in winter. There is still a lot of room for improvement here.
