As part of their COVID-19 Relief campaign, Jagruthi trust is helping the needy families to help buy basic raw materials/ food/ medicines in addition helping the poor children in their learning. ++ The children attend MEG School (over 350 students) managed by the Trust ++ Aims to reach out to 500 families around Cox town area to help them in their needs. ++ 60 children in the home care center looking for virtual learning. ++ 8 girls are in Grade X now writing board exams –contribute to help with laptops to these girls to enable them for their future courses. ++ Virtual classes using Cisco WebEx for students in a home care center (All Govt. permissions required for community intervention have been secure by the organization)

Team, The past two years we have run Area wide give-back campaigns for "Movember". Thank you for your incredible generosity and compassion helping those in need. Your response to these give-back events has been incredible. In fact, last year we raised over $25K for Scott Henson and his family. We are excited to do it again this year. But, to give you more choices we have identified charities that are of immediate concern to our families, our community, and to Cisco. We have focused on organizations that support hurricane relief (Red Cross), mental health (Nami Wake County), the homeless (Healthcare for Homeless), and children with cancer (Sofias Hope). For all Regions that raise $2,000 I will match $250 - I'd love to see every region meet the challenge. We hope you are able to help again this year, as the South Area continues to Do Great Things. The eastern Indonesian island of Sulawesi was hit with a 7.5-magnitude earthquake and a subsequent tsunami that hurled water as high as 20 feet over the city of Palu. Officials said the death toll has reached 2113 and there's still more than 1300 people missing. Since the disasters, stores have been looted, residents have gone hungry and there have been mass jail breaks. Some nonprofit organizations and charities have mobilized to bring relief to the island. If you want to help those affected by the earthquake and tsunami, here is some guidance, and a list of some of the organizations involved in recovery efforts, as per the New York Times.

Join me in supporting refugees and immigrants find employment! YCore is a forum for groups of professionals to partner with a non-profit and do an extended project with them (usually 3-4 months). My project is with Upwardly Global , an organization seeking to help refugees and immigrants find employment. We are gathering stories from job applicants and employers to help them find both people to apply to jobs, and opportunities for those applicants. I'll be working on this project with 4 other people from October 2018 until February 2019. The funding will go towards YCore to allow them to continue keeping up this program.

Casa Bernabe Overview https://youtu.be/xH5qfG8Nqgc THE REALITY In 2015, Guatemala had the second-highest rate of child murders in the world. Of the crimes against children that get reported—including murder, rape, kidnapping—most go unpunished (88%). It is estimated that 4 out of 10 children experience sexual abuse. An estimated 2 in 5 children are malnourished. Among indigenous children, that rises to 4 in 5. UNICEF estimates that there are more than 370,000 orphans in Guatemala and at least 5,000 children live on the streets of the capital, abandoned by mothers who are too poor to keep them. Five out of 10 students who enter primary school in urban areas complete primary school, as opposed to only two out of 10 in rural areas. These are not just numbers, these are lives and this is the load that the children at Casa Bernabé are carrying with them. THE GOOD NEWS Casa Bernabé Ministries exists to provide hope for vulnerable children in Guatemala, both within the walls of its campus and also within the surrounding community. The ministry seeks to provide the framework needed for each child to step out from the past trauma of their lives by providing physical needs, medical and psychological care, and spiritual guidance. Children are ministered to in church and youth group and educated in the Christian school on campus. Lives are transformed as the ties of generational poverty and abuse are broken. By working with the Guatemalan court systems and biological families Casa Bernabé Ministries is leading the way in Guatemalan Global Orphan Care.

On Wednesday October 10th, 2018 Hurricane Michael made landfall in Florida’s Panhandle or Big Bend area. Hurricane Michael was a catastrophic category 4 hurricane bringing significant storm surges, high winds and flooding. Bright Funds has established the Hurricane Michael Disaster Response and Recovery Fund. This fund is comprised of pre-vetted nonprofits providing disaster response in the region. Through a single tax deductible donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations’ initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. Our Fund approach is informed by expert and local recommendations from the Center for Disaster Philanthropy. We have initially selected organizations that are on the ground assisting with immediate relief needs, including evacuation and post-landfall sheltering, feeding, medical assistance, search and rescue operations.

This event was started to provide an activity for employees to get moving while also working to raise funds for local charities. This fun event includes a 5K Rivalry Fun Run or walk, music and activities. The Rivalry Run 5K offers runners, walkers, and sports fans a chance to step up and represent their favorite teams! The entire event is about fitness, fun, sportsmanship, and celebration of fans and sports team rivalries. Employees, contractors, friends and family are invited to harness the Cisco spirit and celebrate rivalry traditions by participating in the 5K – by supporting the community through the Be the Bridge Campaign. This year we have chosen to raise funds for the YMCA of the North Shore, Boston Self Help Center, Special Olympics Massachusetts, and Greater Boston Food Bank. Initiatives to take action on Climate Change, to protect the Environment and transform our economy to a Sustainable foundation

The composition of nonprofits in this Fund is subject to change as we learn more about the needs on the ground.

Goal: $5,000 Proyecto Guajira. Fondo WaterAid. In WaterAid queremos que todos los niños y niñas tengan las mismas posibilidades de comenzar una vida con buena salud. Nuestra Campaña de Inicios Saludables busca mejorar la salud y la nutrición de mas de 750 niños y niñas a través de agua limpia, saneamiento seguro y buena higiene. ¡Por esto el apoyo del equipo de Cisco es muy importante en ayudarnos a recaudar los fondos necesarios y llegar a nuestra meta! Nuestro apoyo y esfuerzo ayudara a la escuela de la comunidad de Kurrillamana con mas de 35 estudiantes y 2 maestras en el departamento de la Guajira. Actualmente la escuela no cuenta con servicio de agua ni saneamiento. Las maestras y estudiantes deben traer agua en baldes desde los puntos de suministro y hacer sus necesidades en los alrededores de la comunidad. El costo total de la intervención es de USD$10,000 (COP$30.000.000). El reto es recaudar USD$5,000 (COP$15.000.000) entre Octubre y Diciembre del 2018, y con el apoyo de Cisco podremos juntar el monto total. El proceso de recaudación será́ acompañado permanentemente por WaterAid y concluirá́, para aquellos que lo deseen, con una visita a la comunidad y escuela de Kurrillamana, en el municipio de Manaure, La Guajira. De parte de los niños y niñas de Kurrillamana y el equipo de WaterAid Colombia, agradecemos su interés y valioso apoyo. ¡Gracias! WaterAid Proyecto Guajira Fund WaterAid is determined to make clean water, reliable toilets and good hygiene available to boys and girls. Our Healthy Beginnings Campaign seeks to improve health and nutrition for over 750 boys and girls with the availability of clean safe water and proper hygiene. We need all the support from the Cisco team to help us reach our goal! With your help we will be supporting the school located in the community of Kurrillamana, which serves over 35 students and 2 teachers, located in de Department of La Guajira (Colombia’s most northerly region: a vast and wild desert on the Caribbean coast bordering Venezuela). Today there is no water directly being supplied to the school. The students and teachers have to carry water in buckets from a central location and they relieve themselves in the areas surrounding the community. This tough situation creates a health hazard while being a huge burden as well. The total cost of this project is $10,000 USD. The challenge for this campaign is to raise $5,000 USD between October and December 2018, while taking advantage of the Cisco match to achieve the ultimate goal of $10,000 USD. WaterAid will be supporting this project all along and this venture will conclude with an actual visit to the project in Kurrillamana, in La Guajira, where we will engage with the community who is benefiting from this campaign.
