Bachamma and her husband live in a thatched-roof home with a covered entry where they keep their dairy cows. In addition to drinking water for her family, she needs to water their cows multiple times a day to keep up their milk production.

She can earn 5,000 rupees each month selling the milk in her village, but without access to water at home, Bachamma could not sustain her family or her cows.

Before having access to water at home, Bachamma carried empty vessels to the community water tank each morning, and had to compete for a limited water supply with other women in her village.

So when she and her husband learned they could finance a water tap for their home through WaterCredit, they knew it would keep both their family and livestock healthier. And with a dependable supply of milk to sell, they’d have the income needed to quickly repay the loan. Each month she paid 271 RS, and in less than 36 months her loan was paid off.

Give water credit for helping Bachamma and her family fund their own long-term, safe water solution at home.
