This event was started to provide an activity for employees to get moving while also working to raise funds for local charities. This fun event includes a 5K Rivalry Fun Run or walk, music and activities. The Rivalry Run 5K offers runners, walkers, and sports fans a chance to step up and represent their favorite teams! The entire event is about fitness, fun, sportsmanship, and celebration of fans and sports team rivalries. Employees, contractors, friends and family are invited to harness the Cisco spirit and celebrate rivalry traditions by participating in the 5K – by supporting the community through the Be the Bridge Campaign. This year we have chosen to raise funds for the YMCA of the North Shore, Boston Self Help Center, Special Olympics Massachusetts, and Greater Boston Food Bank. Funds raised will be matched (employees only) by the Cisco Foundation. Please take a moment to read about the charities selected. Across the country, people like you and I are stuck at home, feeling both helpless and the need to help. Social distancing is working, but we can do more. In the coming weeks nearly every American will receive a stimulus check to help pay rent, shop for food, and support local businesses during the COVID19 pandemic. However, some of us are in stable financial situations and don't need that money now. We have the opportunity to redirect these funds in order to support members of our community who may not be so fortunate. If you can, please pledge your check (or part of it) in order to provide food, supplies, and services to those who need it most. Food insecurity affects so many Americans and by donating to this fund which is matched by the VMware Foundation you will make a difference to many people.

We recognize that each community will have their own set of challenges in light of the Coronavirus. Bright Funds Foundation has established the 2020 Boston Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund to address the unique needs of the Boston community. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. Given the ever-changing nature of this pandemic and widespread impact, the composition of the nonprofits in this Fund will evolve.

Our goal is to help raise money to provide meals for families at Thanksgiving and to support our local food banks for the East Area!

1 in 9 people, and 1 in 7 children face hunger every day in America. The End Hunger Fund focuses on addressing food insecurity – a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. This fund is comprised of three national charities – FEEDING AMERICA, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization; NO KID HUNGRY, dedicated to eradicating child hunger through schools breakfast, as well as afterschool and summer meals for kids; and MEALS ON WHEELS AMERICA dedicated to serving the more than 10 million vulnerable seniors across the country. Bringing this issue home, also included is THE GREATER BOSTON FOOD BANK, providing meals to people in the communities that many of us live in. An epidemic in its own right according to some, the economic impact of COVID-19 has made the situation even more dire, millions of Americans are out of work, and hunger, one of our nation’s most urgent problems, has grown even worse.
