In 2008 – my junior year of college, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had a craniotomy to remove the benign growth. In 2012 during a routine checkup I was told the tumor had returned and required me to undergo another brain surgery. My second surgery was performed at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Roswell Park is recognized as a premier comprehensive care center in America and strives to achieve excellence not only in patient treatment and care but also in clinical programs and research. The doctors, nurses, and staff were all exceptional at helping my family and me through this stressful and difficult time. Since my successful recovery, I have searched for a way to help support Roswell Park in furthering their research to find a cure for brain cancer and to bring more awareness and education regarding brain tumors. Buffalo Goes Gray was subsequently formed as a non-profit charitable organization whose purpose is to raise funds to bring awareness of brain tumors and further research for brain cancer treatment at Roswell Park. With the help of the generous sponsors and donations that we receive each year, we have been able to donate over $150,000 to Roswell Park. Since the inaugural event in 2014, the money raised goes to Roswell Park and in particular the SurVax M Vaccine. The SurVax M vaccine is a unique vaccine being studied as a treatment for glioblastoma at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
