With a mission to reduce violence, the Connie Rice Institute for Urban Peace, known as the Urban PeaceInstitute (UPI), works on the ground in Los Angeles communities to create safe, healthy, and thrivingneighborhoods. For two decades, UPI has developed and implemented innovative solutions to addresscommunity violence and engage in system reform. UPI now works to reimagine public safety byexpanding the work of peacemakers and spearheading alternative community-based public safetystrategies in South Los Angeles.
