Allyson Whitney Foundation
This organization was chosen by Julianna's parents. The Allyson Whitney Foundation, Inc. is a charity non-profit organization that empowers and fights for the interests of young adults with rare cancers. Their vision is to improve the quality of life while a young adult is going through a cancer treatment. Allyson Whitney Foundation primarily provides individuals and their families with Life Interrupted Grant to ease their financial burden so that they can concentrate their energy on healing and not worry about the stressors of bills that come with a diagnosis.
Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance, Inc.
Primary peritoneal cancer is different from, but a close relative to, epithelial ovarian cancer. OCRA is the largest global organization dedicated to advancing ovarian cancer research while supporting women and their families. As the voice for ovarian cancer, OCRA funds private research, advocates for increased federal research and awareness dollars and furthers policies that give women access to the services they need, as well as supports women and their families before, during and after a diagnosis. Collectively, the organization has invested over $85 million in private ovarian cancer research and has advocated to secure over $2.2 billion federal dollars dedicated to ovarian cancer research and awareness.
Ovarian Cancer Alliance of California
This organization was chosen by Julianna's parents. Primary peritoneal cancer is different from, but a close relative to, epithelial ovarian cancer. The Mission of OCA is to save lives by educating and empowering women in our community about Ovarian Cancer. We accomplish our mission by participating in several community outreach events and health fairs.
First Descents provides life-changing outdoor adventures for young adults (age 18-39) impacted by cancer. I've personally volunteered with the organization and seen firsthand how it builds community among young adults with cancer who often don't know anyone else who is in the same situation.
