Hurricane Eta Regional Relief & Recovery Fund

About

Hurricane Eta, the 28th storm this season, made landfall in Nicaragua on Tuesday afternoon. As a category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 140 mph, the storm has already ravaged Honduras, Nicaragua, and surrounding regions. The storm will continue to hover over Central America through the weekend, bringing along life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides. Reports of Eta's catastrophic damage from rains, winds and flooding in Nicaragua and Honduras have begun to roll in, but it could be days until residents there are able to survey the totality of the impact. It is estimated that 1.2 million people have been affected by the storm, which could move to the Caribbean and southern Florida in the days to come. Bright Funds has established The Hurricane Eta Relief & Recovery Fund to support the communities impacted by the storms. This Fund includes pre-vetted nonprofits providing emergency response in the region. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. We have initially selected organizations that are working to provide immediate relief; the composition of the nonprofits in this Fund are subject to change as we learn more about the needs on the ground.
