About

Across the country, people like you and I are stuck at home, feeling both helpless and the need to help. Social distancing is working, but we can do more. In the coming weeks nearly every American will receive a stimulus check to help pay rent, shop for food, and support local businesses during the COVID19 pandemic. However, some of us are in stable financial situations and don't need that money now. We have the opportunity to redirect these funds in order to support members of our community who may not be so fortunate. If you can, please pledge your check (or part of it) in order to provide food, supplies, and services to those who need it most. Your donation will support the COVID19 relief efforts in Los Angeles led by People Assisting the Homeless and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Stay home, make an impact. Join the HomeTeam.

Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

Since 1973, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has distributed more than 1.2 billion pounds of food. The Food Bank collects food from hundreds of resources. With the help of 30,000 volunteers annually and an agency network of more than 600 partner agencies, the Food Bank serves more than 300,000 people on a monthly basis. In the wake of COVID19, demand for food assistance in Los Angeles is rapidly rising, and the Food Bank is working to mobilize resources to meet this increase. It is estimated that the number of people served has risen to 450,000 per month. Additionally, the Food Bank has started supplementing school districts' “Grab and Go” meal distributions with food boxes for families and is partnering with organizations to launch home delivery services for seniors. Every $2 spent provides a meal for a person in need.

People Assisting The Homeless

PATH's mission is to end homelessness for individuals, families, and communities. They operate throughout California and provide a variety of services that include employment, outreach, homelessness prevention, housing navigation, interim housing, rapid rehousing, and permanent supportive housing. In 2019, the organization served 20% of California's population experiencing homelessness, including 19,643 people in Los Angeles. In response to COVID19, PATH has opened new isolation and quarantine sites in Los Angeles County, totaling over 400 rooms, for those who must self-isolate but have no place to go. Homeless populations are more vulnerable now than ever, and PATH is continuing to engage in their essential work, providing case management support and delivering meals and clothing, but more importantly, providing emotional support to guests during this uncertain time.
