Kids in Need of Defense (KIND)

In the U.S. and internationally, Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) meets children where they are. KIND staff and partners are global experts on the rights and needs of unaccompanied and separated children and the laws, policies, and practices that affect them. In response to multiple dangers faced by unaccompanied and separated immigrant and refugee children and the need for a holistic, long-term approach, KIND works to address current challenges head-on, create systemic change, and provide critical services at all points during a child’s journey.

International Rescue Committee (IRC)

Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. The IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. At work in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities, IRC restores safety, dignity and hope to millions who are uprooted and struggling to endure. The IRC leads the way from harm to home.

Global Hunger Project dba The Hunger Project

The Hunger Project is a global, non-profit, strategic organization committed to the sustainable end of world hunger. Their vision is a world where every woman, man and child leads a healthy, fulfilling life of self-reliance and dignity. The Hunger Project's mission is to end hunger and poverty by pioneering sustainable, grassroots, women-centered strategies and advocating for their widespread adoption in countries throughout the world.

Kiva Microfunds

More than 1.7 billion people around the world are unbanked and can’t access the financial services they need. Kiva is an international nonprofit, founded in 2005 in San Francisco, with a mission to expand financial access to help under-served communities thrive. They do this by crowdfunding loans and unlocking capital for the under-served, improving the quality and cost of financial services, and addressing the underlying barriers to financial access around the world.

Through Kiva's work, students can pay for tuition, women can start businesses, farmers are able to invest in equipment and families can afford needed emergency care. By lending as little as $25 on Kiva, you can be part of the solution and make a real difference in someone’s life.

Environmental Defense Fund

Environmental Defense Fund's mission is to preserve the natural systems on which all life depends. Guided by science and economics, they find practical and lasting solutions to the most serious environmental problems. They work to solve the most critical environmental problems facing the planet. This has drawn them to areas that span the biosphere: climate, oceans, ecosystems and health. Since these topics are intertwined, their solutions take a multidisciplinary approach. They work in concert with other organizations — as well as with business, government and communities — and avoid duplicating work already being done effectively by others.

United States Fund for UNICEF

UNICEF's mission is to relentlessly pursue a more equitable world for every child. UNICEF will not stop until every child is healthy, educated, protected and respected. UNICEF USA is rated one of the best charities to donate to: Less than 4% of every dollar spent goes to administrative costs.

Despite major gains in child survival in recent decades, deep inequities persist within countries and across regions, leading to wide disparities.
One way that UNICEF strives to keep vulnerable children healthy is by leveraging its expertise as the world’s largest vaccine buyer — and vaccinator of 46 percent of the world's children — to strengthen primary care health systems to increase immunization coverage and close immunity gaps.
