YouthCare supports and helps children between the ages of 11 to 24 who are homeless in our community, and provides them shelter, training, and resources to learn to get off the streets and realize that just because they are hopeless, they too can realize their dreams. Cascade Bicycle Club
Cascade Bicycle Club serves bike riders of all ages and abilities throughout the Puget Sound region and across Washington state. With a mission to improve lives through bicycling, they deliver community and school-based education programs, grassroots organizing workshops; advocacy work like Connect Puget Sound; and education programs like Basics of Bicycling, the awesome Major Taylor Project promote safety and community through cycling!
Bike Works Seattle
Bike Works builds sustainable communities by educating youth and promoting bicycling. Since 1996 they've worked to educate and empower youth, and make bicycling accessible and affordable to the Seattle community. They empower youth to lead healthy and productive lives. In their classrooms and out in the field their youth participants build confidence, critical thinking and life skills. The kids also learn what it means to give back as individuals AND members of a community. As they log community service hours in order to earn their own bicycle, the kids discover they have valuable skills to offer others in need. Bike Works programs invest in young people and encourage bicycling as a clean and healthy transportation alternative. Bike Works also donates refurbished, recycled bicycles to adults and community-based organizations that serve low-income individuals in need of a working bicycle for transportation. Bike Works also operates a not-for-profit bike shop that sells affordable recycled bicycles to the greater Seattle community while generating revenue to run our youth programs, and helps further their mission to get more people riding bikes. All of their programs are run using bikes donated to them by the community. They view each and every bicycle donated, refurbished, and recycled back into the community as one less bike in the landfill, and hopefully one less car on the road!
Marys Place Seattle
Mary's Place is a first stop on the journey out of homelessness for women and children. Our mission is to be an accepting community providing safety, stability, dignity and hope to restore the lives of homeless women and their children. Taking care of the most vulnerable among us is very important to me and I support the work that this group does!
Washington Trails Association
In 2016 I made a committment to myself to get out and do more hiking and camping, and Washington Trails Association (WTA) is the voice for hikers in Washington state. They believe hiking trails are our link to wilderness. They protect hiking trails and wild lands, take volunteers out to maintain trails, and promote hiking as a healthy, fun way to explore the outdoors. It is our responsibility to protect these wild places for our children, and their future.
