Sylvia Earle Alliance Mission Blue

Coral reef ecosystems are among the most biologically diverse and complex marine ecosystems worldwide. Like trees on land, corals are major “ecosystem engineers” in the marine environment. While covering less than 1% of the ocean surface, coral reefs provide habitat for nearly one third of marine fish species as well as 10% of all fish captured for human consumption. Coral reefs also provide major essential benefits to people, like food production, tourism, biotechnology development, and coastal protection. Unfortunately, the World Conservation Institute estimates that 20% of coral reefs are already destroyed, another 25% are in great immediate threat, and another 25% will be threatened by 2050. Let's work together to prevent this!!!

Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)

As Arctic sea ice retreats, offshore oil development, fishing, shipping and other industries are moving in to sensitive ecosystems. Among many other things the NRDC leads this project in establishing a robust system of marine protected areas throughout the circumpolar Arctic to help protect marine wildlife.

National Geographic Society

National Geographic’s Pristine Seas project conducts scientific research to measure biodiversity and the abundance of marine life. In addition to research, the team captures compelling footage to share with a variety of audiences. Together with its partners, Pristine Seas evaluates the benefits of creating protected areas and the revenues associated with alternative economic uses. The scientific data, economic analyses and media products developed by the team are used to inspire country leaders to protect these critical marine ecosystems. Any commitment will help support new expeditions to pristine marine areas, including the Artic and the Galápagos Islands, as well as related research and communications work in an effort to help protect some of the ocean’s last wild places. Future target areas could drive conservation of an additional 5 million square kilometers of marine habitat.

Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation

No Ceilings: The Full Participation Project is an initiative of the Clinton Foundation which aims to advance the full participation of girls and women around the world. Through a data-driven analysis on gender equality, an in-depth conversation series, innovative partnerships, and CGI commitments, No Ceilings builds an evidence-based case to chart the path forward for the full participation of girls and women in the 21st century.

Care

CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. We place special focus on working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. Women are at the heart of CARE's community-based efforts to improve basic education, prevent the spread of HIV, increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives.

International Center For Research On Women

ICRW's mission is to empower women, advance gender equality and fight poverty in the developing world. To accomplish this, ICRW works with partners to conduct research, build capacity and advocate for evidence-based, practical ways to change policies and programs.

American Civil Liberties Union Foundation, Inc.

A look back at history shows that women have made great strides in the fight for equality, including women’s suffrage and inroads in equal opportunity in the workplace and education. Despite the tremendous progress made in the struggle for gender equality, women still face violence, discrimination, and institutional barriers to equal participation in society. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, the ACLU Women’s Rights Project pushes for change and systemic reform in institutions that perpetuate discrimination against women, focusing its work in the areas of employment, violence against women, and education.

Girls Rising

Educating girls can break cycles of poverty in just one generation. Educated girls stand up for their rights, marry and have children later, educate their own children, and their families and communities thrive. Yet millions of girls around the world face barriers to education that boys do not. Removing barriers such as early marriage, gender-based violence, domestic slavery and sex trafficking means not only a better life for girls, but a safer, healthier and more prosperous world for all.

Sierra Club Foundation

Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, the Sierra Club is now the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization -- with more than two million members and supporters. Our successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act. More recently, we've made history by leading the charge to move away from the dirty fossil fuels that cause climate disruption and toward a clean energy economy.
