Samaritan's Purse is responding to the catastrophic earthquakes that struck Nepal. They are providing relief items such as shelter materials, clean water supplies, and hygiene and cooking kits. Their teams minister with care and compassion to those who are suffering.
NetHope Member organizations and their implementing partners are active in Nepal. Information management and communications capabilities are compromised in the affected area. Urgent assistance is needed to support relief efforts and allow this work to continue.
Team Rubicon is an organization whose volunteers are military veterans and first responders. Their mission in Nepal is dubbed "Operation: Tenzing". Teams are conducting assessments and medical operations in villages outside of Katmandu. Team members are using unmanned aerial vehicles to provide visual assessments of areas deeply impacted by the earthquake.
The quake and their aftershocks affected an estimated 8 million people - more than a quarter of Nepal's population. Thousands in Nepal and northern India lost their lives, and hundreds of thousands were suddenly left without food, water, or shelter. Oxfam will continue to work closely with local partners and communities to help the country recover from this catastrophic event.
