Black History Month is a federally recognized celebration of the contributions African Americans have made to this country, and a time to reflect on the continued struggle for racial and social justice and acknowledging their achievements that continue to have deep cultural and global impact. Black @ MAL asks for your support for these three amazing organizations that spans across music, civic service, and food equity - they are dynamic reflections of community empowerment and excellence.

The South LA Cafe Community Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit affiliate of South LA Cafe aims to break the shackles of systemic oppression and inequality by creating, building, and empowering an equitable, healthy, and sustainable South Central community for all people.Our model focuses on the following three pillars. #1: PEOPLE: EMPOWERING OUR FAMILIESLifting barriers to human rights and healthy ecosystems by creating access to resources and developing a social safety net.#2: PLACE: CREATING OUR COMMUNITYRejecting cultural erasure and displacement by creating equitable and thriving community spaces and experiences.#3#: PROSPERITY: BUILDING OUR ECONOMYCombatting gentrification and corporate development by building a sustainable and self-determined local economy.

World Stage Performance Gallery

The World Stage Performance Galley is an educational and performance arts Gallery rooted in the African American music, literature and work in the oral tradition to a local, national and international audience. The World Stage provides a workshop environment where classic and emerging forms of creative expression can be supported and presented.  The mission of the World Stage is to provide leadership to secure, preserve and advance the position of African American music, literature and works in the oral tradition to a local, national and international audience by providing workshops where classic and emerging forms of creative expression can be supported and presented.

100 Black Men of Los Angeles Inc

100 Black Men of Los Angeles, Inc provides young black scholars with opportunities they would not regularly have access to - including mentorships, high school clubs, and investments programs. They also uplift and encourage the youth to continue with education and pursue avenues not typically given. They have been a staple in the community for over 40 years and continue to work with inner-city youth to ensure they can succeed.
