Preventing Euthanasia Through Rescue
Maine Coon Adoptions is the adoption division of Preventing Euthanasia Through Rescue (PET Rescue), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Maine Coon Adoptions is dedicated to rescuing abused, abandoned, surrendered and homeless kitties and to finding loving, carefully-screened, adoptive homes for them. The group was founded in the San Francisco Bay area in October 2003, and since then, we have rescued and adopted out hundreds of kitties from all over California (and beyond!). We are a team of volunteers who love all cats and are particularly drawn to Maine Coon and Maine Coon mixes because of their wonderful personalities. We are very proud of our accomplishments—nearly 2,000 kitties rescued and rehomed since the organization was formed—particularly since we are all volunteers with no paid staff or dedicated facility.
MCA is a no-kill rescue and we are committed to providing comprehensive veterinary care for our kitties. All cats adopted through MCA are up-to-date on shots (rabies, distemper and FVRCP), tested for FeLV/FIV, spayed or neutered, and microchipped.
Nine Lives Foundation
Nine Lives Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit no-kill cat welfare organization that works with the local community, TNR (trap/neuter/return) and rescue groups to reduce the over-population of homeless cats in northern California by providing low-cost spay/neuter services, vaccinations, health care and shelter for stray, feral, and at-risk cats. Nine Lives Foundation provides all necessary medical treatments for its shelter cats through an on-site veterinary clinic, and seeks loving, permanent homes for them, including those with physical, medical or behavioral disabilities.
Nine Lives Foundation never uses euthanasia on a cat or kitten, except for humane reasons such as pain or suffering or when a cat has severe medical problems with a poor or grave prognosis.
Nine Lives Foundation encourages cooperation among cat rescue groups and offers discounted fees to such groups to support their efforts. It is our hope that all cat rescue organizations in Northern California will be united by a common cause. Working together we can end the senseless euthanasia of millions of cats and kittens each year through spay/neuter and TNR (trap-neuter-return). Spaying and neutering saves lives and every one life saved matters.
