About

We want to acknowledge the anti-Asian narrative and rise in xenophobia and racist hate crimes against Asian individuals that we are witnessing across the US, and make it clear that discrimination, hatred and violence is not tolerated and has no place at MAL. Everyone belongs here and we will continue to strive to make MAL an open, safe and brave space, free from prejudice and discrimination. This fund is directed to two great non-profit organizations, though there are many more to support as well.

Your Donation Supports

Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Los Angeles

Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Los Angeles is a non-profit group providing legal care/support for the AAPI communities here in Los Angeles. They’re directly impacting individuals and families in our county, many of whom do not speak English fluently and need representation through the immigration/citizenship process, housing related issues and discrimination cases.

Chinese for Affirmative Action

StopAAPIHate (funded by Chinese for Affirmative Action) has been all over the news and social, but they’ve had a huge part in helping bring the issues to light by collecting and sharing data on what’s happening. Continuing to track, monitor and responding to attacks. Asian communities don’t tend to report crimes for fear of retaliation, so collecting this data and being able to mobilize against it through education and reform is critical.

Asian Mental Health Collective

It is the mission of AMHC to normalize and de-stigmatize mental health within the Asian community. Vision AMHC aspires to make mental health easily available, approachable, and accessible to Asian communities worldwide.

1882 Project Foundation

The 1882 Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to building public awareness about the history and continuing significance of the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and how to better protect sites like the Donner Summit Tunnels. They are in favor of a private-public collaboration that might include basic infrastructure to mitigate the wear and tear on the site, such as an interpretive center and trail markers, as well as volunteer docents and educational opportunities.
