2021 Native American Heritage Month Fund

About

November is Native American Heritage Month (NAHM), also known as American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month. It is a time to celebrate the rich and diverse ancestry, cultures, traditions, and histories of America's Indigenous people. According to the National Congress of American Indians, NAHM is also “an opportunity to educate our workforce, raise awareness about the uniqueness of Native people, and the myriad of ways in which tribal citizens have conquered challenges to maintain voice and dignity and to remain an influencing presence in a rapidly evolving nation.” Through a single tax-deductible donation to the 2021 Native American Heritage Month Fund, you will support Indigenous-led nonprofits focused on building Indigenous power, protecting and restoring land and culture, and strengthening and supporting healthy Native communities. Your Donation Supports

NDN Collective Inc

NDN Collective is an Indigenous-led organization dedicated to building Indigenous power. Through organizing, activism, philanthropy, grantmaking, capacity-building and narrative change, we are creating sustainable solutions on Indigenous terms. NDN Collective's mission is to build Indigenous power through defense, development and decolonization, and take control of our destinies. Your donation helps build the collective power of Indigenous Peoples, communities, and Nations to exercise our inherent right to self-determination, while fostering a world that is built on a foundation of justice and equity for all people and the planet.

Indigenous Environmental Network

Indigenous Environmental Network (IEN) is an alliance of grassroots Indigenous peoples whose mission it is to protect the sacredness of Mother Earth from contamination and exploitation by strengthening, maintaining and respecting Indigenous teachings and natural laws. IEN’s activities include building the capacity of Indigenous communities and tribal governments to develop mechanisms to protect our sacred sites, land, water, air, natural resources, health of both our people and all living things, and to build economically sustainable communities. IEN accomplishes this by maintaining an informational clearinghouse, organizing campaigns, direct actions and public awareness, building the capacity of community and tribes to address EJ issues, development of initiatives to impact policy, and building alliances. IEN convenes local, regional and national meetings on environmental and economic justice issues, and provides support, resources and referral to Indigenous communities and youth throughout primarily North America – and in recent years – globally.

Honor the Earth

Our mission is to create awareness and support for Native environmental issues and to develop needed financial and political resources for the survival of sustainable Native communities. Honor the Earth develops these resources by using music, the arts, the media, and Indigenous wisdom to ask people to recognize our joint dependency on the Earth and be a voice for those not heard. We rely on your donations to sustain and grow our efforts to build a just, green economy in Native communities. Your contribution directly supports targeted organizing, strategic outreach, media and education campaigns, legal interventions, and renewable energy projects. We are up against some of the largest energy corporations and lobby groups in the world and we need your help to make real change!

The Cultural Conservancy

We are The Cultural Conservancy (TCC), a Native-led organization founded in 1985. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, our headquarters is on unceded Ohlone land and our land base in the sovereign territories of Coast Miwok and Southern Pomo peoples. We work with Indigenous communities throughout Turtle Island and Abya Yala (the Americas) and Moananuiākea (the Pacific). Our Mission is to protect and restore Indigenous cultures, empowering them in the direct application of traditional knowledge and practices on their ancestral lands. Your support helps TCC carry out its programs, including: native nutrition & cooking classes, growing produce for Native health centers, youth mentorship in our youth programs, transporting urban youth to Native farm classes, online courses for our international indigenous partners, native youth foodways internship and transcribing an elder’s recorded story.

Sogorea Te Land Trust

Sogorea Te' Land Trust is an urban Indigenous women-led land trust that facilitates the return of Indigenous land to Indigenous people. Through the practices of rematriation, cultural revitalization, and land restoration, Sogorea Te’ calls on native and non-native peoples to heal and transform the legacies of colonization, genocide, and patriarchy and to do the work our ancestors and future generations are calling us to do. We envision a Bay Area in which Ohlone language and ceremony are an active, thriving part of the cultural landscape, where Ohlone place names and history is known and recognized and where intertribal Indigneous communities have affordable housing, social services, cultural centers and land to live, work and pray on.
