Nabasumba Resty loved school and earned good grades when she was a little girl in Uganda. But sadly, like millions of girls around the world, she was forced to drop out early because her parents couldn't afford to pay for the fees.

Seven years ago, BRAC staff came to her community looking for women who wanted to start their own businesses. Nabasumba immediately volunteered and started learning financial management and business skills. She also received training from BRAC on how to raise chickens and cultivate eggs.

Now, her business is booming and Nabasumba saved enough money to put her own son through college.

"I see in my children the same spark that I had," Nabasumba said, "I wanted them to have the education I didn't."

With your help, BRAC reached nearly 150,000 women in Uganda through its microfinance and financial empowerment programs to help them build better futures for themselves and their families. By supporting BRAC you are providing millions with the tools and opportunities to get out of poverty and stay out.
