DORCHESTER, Mass., Dec. 15, 2016 – Today, Lauren Gilbert, Ed.D., BELL’s president and chief strategy officer and incoming chief executive officer, has been named by Results for America (RFA) to a two-year fellowship.
RFA is a national nonprofit working with decision-makers at all levels of government to harness the power of evidence and data to make progress on the world's greatest challenges. The Fellowship will capture the collective experiences, insights and recommendations of well-respected nonprofit chief executives committed to advancing evidence-based solutions to better inform public policy and improve the impact of public investments. Gilbert will join 14 other nonprofit chief executives to create a community of nonprofit peers committed to driving large-scale systemic reform.
“Every day, these dynamic chief executives, and the organizations they lead, are harnessing evidence to improve lives, open opportunity and tackle our most pressing challenges,” said Michele Jolin, RFA co-founder and chief executive officer. “Through this Fellowship, we will help bridge the gap between the important evidence-based work being done by these nonprofits in communities across the country and the policymakers who represent those communities.”
As part of the Fellowship, Gilbert will focus on using evidence and data to address the policy area of Education Development. She will have an opportunity to collaborate with other nonprofits on best practices for building and using evidence to improve education programs and policies, open opportunity for students and provide an example to policymakers at all levels.
“It is an honor to have been selected as a Fellow from such a distinguished organization,” Gilbert said. “I look forward to sharing BELL’s collective insights, and collaborating with leaders from organizations who are committed to expanding access to evidence-based out—of—school time education and enrichment programs.”
Gilbert brings extensive knowledge and experience from her work in multiple fields of the educational system. Having committed her life to serving children, she has transitioned from the classroom, to district level leadership, and into the non-profit sector with a keen understanding of the need to expand high-quality educational opportunities to students across the nation. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Special Education from the University of New Mexico, and a doctorate in education from Boston College.
