Nia Centre for the Arts Incorporated

524 OAKWOOD AVE, YORK, ON, M6E 2X1, CA

Nia Centre for the Arts is a charitable organization with a mission to support, showcase and promote art from across the Afro-Diaspora. This will be further be expanded with the renovation of our 14,000sq ft. facility, making Nia Canada's first multidisciplinary professional Black Arts Centre. We are a Toronto-based charitable arts organization with a mission to support, showcase and promote art rooted in Black artistic traditions. The centre actualizes this mission by providing opportunities for artists, creative entrepreneurs and young people to hone their artistic capacity. We take a holistic understanding of the arts to encompass its abilities to nurture community, foster healthy identities and influence future generations. Understanding our role as agents of change and our invested interest in showcasing the beauty and struggle of Black lives, we engage multiple art forms to empower and educate.

We are unique in that we support Black artists at varying levels of experience, emerging to experienced, 'formally' educated to self-taught. We are one of few organizations that functions within this multidisciplinary capacity while providing free or low-cost arts programming and events.
