Since 2011, the year of its foundation, the Baoba - Fund for Racial Equity works in the field of social justice philanthropy in Brazil. It mobilizes, articulates and organizes resources to donate to civil society organizations and leaders, in order to contribute to their strengthening and promote more autonomous performances, in efforts to consolidate Brazilian democracy.
The specificity of the Baoba Fund lies in its exclusive dedication to the promotion of racial equity for the Black population in Brazil. It offers, direct support for organizations and Black leaders committed to tackling racism, through calls for proposals and programs, seeking to promote racial equity and social justice. The Baoba Fund for Racial Equity realizes the difficult equation of establishing closer ties, as well as bringing resources from Brazilian and international philanthropy to funding organizations and leaders that carry out actions and contribute to social justice. The Baoba Fund for Racial Equity is also a political stakeholder, on one hand promoting a culture of giving committed to racial equity and social justice and being a Grantmaker, supporting the development of capacities and the achievement of autonomy by organizations and leaders of Black grassroots organizations. The Baoba Fund for Racial Equity mobilizes and organizes resources from national and international philanthropy, coordinating its donation to Black organizations and leaders that work to promote racial equity and guarantee rights.

Organizations that work in the field of social justice philanthropy through community funds and foundations, such as the Baoba Fund, operate by exercising a quintet of articulated movements that involve mobilization and donation of resources, monitoring and strengthening of capacities, communication and defense/support of human rights guarantees. These are fundamental to strengthening of civil society represented by organizations, leaders, collectives, groups and grassroots movements, where resources are obtained with difficulty and almost always removing the autonomy of their interventions.

The solutions articulated by the supported organizations and Black leaders address the reduction of inequalities and the guarantee of human rights, with a view to promoting racial equity and contributing to social justice. To promote racial equity contributing to social justice is to articulate the supported initiatives in order to influence the system, public policies.

The Baoba Fund for Racial Equity transforms donated resources in strengthening the performance of Black organizations and leaders and calls on Brazilian and international philanthropy to commit to racial equity.
