About

In the Bay Area, 1 in 5 people is too poor to meet their basic needs. That’s 1.3 million people who are making the impossible choice of paying the rent or putting food on the table. In San Francisco, where rental prices are the highest in the nation and the average family earns $153,000 a year, the disparity is staggering. Tipping Point fights poverty in the Bay Area. We identify and invest in the most effective education, employment, housing and early childhood development non-profits, and partner with the public sector to leverage our impact for the common good.

Urban Vision Alliance

Urban Vision Alliance (UVA) is a nonprofit committed to ending street homelessness through collective action and collaboration between public and private sectors. UVA addresses fragmented approaches to homelessness by breaking down silos and aligning all stakeholders through a digital platform that enables transparency, progress tracking, and resource matching. The platform centralizes efforts, reducing costs, and speeding up timelines to help cities create actionable plans to reduce street homelessness. UVA has recruited over 35 organizations and partnered with leading firms such as Gensler, Webcor, Goodwin Proctor, and more. The model is scalable and replicable, creating a practical way to deliver more housing and improved services for more people at lower costs.

Community Forward SF

The nonprofit Community Forward SF helps the most vulnerable individuals in the City get off the street, find comprehensive services, and achieve stability so they may thrive. On any given night 2,700 women experience homelessness in San Francisco. Yet the City only offers 99 beds in women-only shelters per night and 157 units of permanent supportive housing dedicated to female-identified clients. Community Forward SF plans to address this dire need by embarking on a mission to increase the number of beds in women-only shelters.

Caminar delivers high-quality prevention, treatment, and recovery services to those with complex mental health, substance use, and co-occurring needs. They believe that the most vulnerable members of the community should be afforded the same quality of life opportunities as those around them.

Tipping Point Community
