Canada Beirut Support Fund

About

The massive explosion that struck Beirut on August 4 has killed at least 100 people, and injured more than 4,000. The cause of the explosion is believed to be ammonium nitrate that had been stored in a warehouse at the city's port. Some 300,000 people have been displaced from their homes by the explosion, while search and rescue efforts continue. Money raised will enable the Red Cross/Red Crescent to prepare for, respond to and help individuals in Lebanon affected by humanitarian needs now and as the situation evolves. Current activities are mobile health outreach, support to health facilities, and strengthening of health systems. These activities may evolve based on emerging needs. The Cisco Foundation will match eligible donations as part of employees' $25,000 annual match limit.
