CLOSED 2022 Disaster Relief - Tonga Volcano Eruption Fund

The Hunga Tonga-Hunga Taa'pai underwater volcano near the island of Tonga, erupted violently on Saturday, 15 January 2022. The explosion, the area's biggest in 30 years, caused a 3-mile-wide plume of ash, steam, and gas to rise more than 12 miles above the volcano, and generated a 3+ foot tsunami that crashed ashore in coastal areas of Tonga's capital. There have been three confirmed fatalities with the toll expected to rise; and reports of catastrophic damage to structures across multiple islands. Tonga has been blanketed by a thick layer of volcanic ash, threatening the island's food and water supply. Communications has been cut off by the severing of an undersea cable, further hampering relief efforts. Cisco Foundation has launched a $25K Volcano Eruption - Tonga Disaster Relief campaign to support the efforts of the New Zealand Red Cross and Save the Children. **Note on Tax Deductibility: This fund may include organizations based in the US, and in other countries.
